You’ve heard me say before that some of the things I enjoy most about serving as your Sheriff are the opportunities it’s brought me to meet new people, visit with you out in the community and participate in many of the community activities we all enjoy here in Ellis County. Those are some of the more informal opportunities my deputies and I have to talk with people; some of the more formal ones are when organized civic groups, such as our Lions and Rotary clubs, want to learn more about your Sheriff’s Office.
I’ve had the honor of speaking with these groups several times since becoming your Sheriff and, as an agency, my deputies and I have also hosted them and other civic groups like Leadership Waxahachie when they’ve wanted to set up a tour of our facilities and jail, see one of our K-9 units conduct a demonstration or just come in for a question-and-answer session where they can learn more.

I also want to remind people about our Crime Prevention Unit, which has specially trained deputies who are more than happy to talk with you about crime prevention and how to set up a neighborhood crime watch program. They’ll help evaluate your home and tell you where you can make some changes that’ll deter would-be burglars. Depending upon your homeowner’s policy, they may even be able to do an inspection that might get you a discount. Feel free to contact our Crime Prevention Unit by calling 972-825-4901. These deputies are available from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday or by appointment.
